Hi, guys! It's Tara from Curl E. Cue's and I've got some great shaped shaker cards to share with you today! So I've been a little excited about my recently purchased micro beads of late and I just had to use them for this week's Mint Owl Studio project! I thought they looked like sand on the ocean floor in these cute mini birthday cards.
First I created my background by inking up an entire 9x12 sheet of watercolor card stock with Distress Inks. Let me tell ya, I was feelin' it! Got my workout in yesterday for sure! I love how it turned out and I even have half the sheet left over to make a couple of projects in the future!
I used my Gansai Tambi watercolors to color the adorable little mermaid from the Best Finfriends stamp set. This set has two great mermaids and all sorts of aquatic scene setters. I just love it! Once she was fussy cut out SIX TIMES (I was just determined to work my arm until it fell off) I added her to the front of the shaker cards to complete the little ocean scene. My sentiment is stamped on the inside along with some of the cute accessory stamps from the set.
For a full tutorial of how I created these shakers (there's a pretty neat trick involving foam tape . . . ) be sure and check out the video linked above! Thanks so much for joining me today and I'll catch you guys next time! Bye!
Thanks for sharing this video! My six year old loved it so much that he asked me if we could make it when he gets home from camp today. I had to tell him that I had to buy the mermaid set first, so I'm off to shop. Thanks for the inspiration!!
