29 & Holding

Good morning everyone! It's Cassie here, and I've got a fun card for you all today. Today's card is especially fun for me because it's my dad's birthday card! Today is his actual birthday-what better way to celebrate than a blog post! :)

Here's a look at todays card
This card was fun to make. I love pulling pieces from past sets to put together an adorable scene. I started, as I often do, with a stitched rectangle card base. I also die cut a stitched heart from some Neenah Solar White cardstock. I took the (adorably sweet) sloth from Sloth Hang Out set and stamped him on the center of the heart. I made sure that I didn't ink up the ends of the tree limb because I wanted to extend them to the end of the heart, which I did with a Copic multiliner. I applied Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to the edges of the heart with a blender, and Chipped Sapphire to the card base panel. I love these colors together! And, my dad's favorite color is blue so it's perfect in that aspect too.
After the sloth and tree limb were colored, I stamped and colored a bunch of the presents from the I Moose You stamp set and a birthday hat from the Party Pals stamp set. I popped the heart up with some foam tape after splattering some white paint on the card base. Then I attached the present balloons and drew lines for the strings. The final touch was to stamp the sentiment from the Snarky Sentiments set. I love that it says 29 & holding, with a picture of a sloth hanging onto a tree. Too cute! I also added a couple white accents with my white gelly roll pen.

That's it for today! I hope you liked the card. There are so many fun ways to pair the Snarky Sentiments set with loads of the other stamps sets- I can't wait to try more combos! Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you again with another card!

If It Was My Birthday...

Good morning everyone! It's Cassie back with another card today! I've got a card using the Coffee Craze stamp set and the brand new Snarky Birthday Sentiments stamp set. When my sister read the sentiment that I used today she said it sounded just like me. So of course I had to use it! Here's a look at the card

The card today was really easy to make. I started with a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock. I've been reaching for this nonstop lately because it blends my Distress Ink so well. It's nearly fool proof-which is awesome. I put down lines of washi tape to create a masked stripe pattern. Then I took the colors Stained Walnut, Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar and blended the colors onto the cardstock. I spritzed the paper with water to get the splotchy distressed look.
Next I stamped my all time favorite coffee cup stamp onto some more Bristol Smooth cardstock. What I love about this image is that it can be more than just coffee. I'm not a coffee drinker, so I like the versatility there. I used my Distress Inks and a paint brush to color it in. I made it look like one of those cotton candy frappes that you can get from Starbucks so that it would match my color combo. I LOVE those things. Just looking at the card makes me want to go get one! When that was completely dry I heat embossed the "treat yo' self' sentiment onto the cup. It's hard to see because it was embossed with white embossing powder, but in real life it's pretty dang cute.

Finally I stamped my sentiment on the bottom, center of the card panel and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. This sentiment just cracks me up! I love this set because I'm such a sarcastic person, and it fits my personality so well. After that was heat set all that was left to do was to pop the drink onto the card using some foam tape.

I hope you enjoyed the card for today! Who else is going to run out and grab their favorite drink now? I'm thinking a caramel apple spice from Starbucks!! Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you again soon with another card!

Christmas Blessings One Layer Scene!! =)

Hello Mint Owl Studio Friends!!
Larissa here today with a very Sweet and Simple Card Design using the "Away In A Manger" Stamp Set!!
Away In A Manger
I was going for a Soft Scene using the Manger and Baby Jesus and the North Star, but I didn't want to loose the scene against a really Dark Sky so I opted for a lighter sky color using Tumbled Glass and I REALLY LOVE the way that it turned out!! I Stamped and Embossed ALL of my Images and then I watercolored using Distress Inks!! I added some Glitter Pen to the Star and the top of the Manger and then Stamped and Embossed the Sentiments and my Card was done!! I LOVE Cards like this for Mass Producing especially during the Holiday Season!! It makes it SO FAST!!

THANKS SO MUCH for stopping by today and I hope you have a FABULOUS WEEK!!

Seasons Greetings

Good morning, all! It's Cassie and I'm back with another winter card today. I'm so in love with the holiday products that have been release by Mint Owl Studio recently. Let's get to the card! I used Cardinal Greetings, Trim The Trees, and the Christmas Quilt Stencil. Here's the card:

I started by taping my stencil over the card base and applying my VersaMark over it. Then I poured two different colors of embossing powder over the panel. The trick to get them no contaminated with each other is to pour one at a time and put back into their container before starting the next one. Once that was heat embossed and cooled I used my ink blender and Cracked Pistachio ink to add some color behind the embossing. I splattered the background with white paint and water so that it had a little texture. Next I stamped the branch and three ornaments onto some Neenah Solar White cardstock and used my Copics to color them in. I wanted the ornaments to match the whole card so I used grays, reds, and mint.

Then I took the sentiment "season greetings" and heat embossed that on some black cardstock. I cut it down and applied it to the card front with foam tape.  I drew in lines for the ornaments so it looked like they were hanging from the branches.

That's it for me today! I hope you liked the card. Be sure to check out the other new products that released this month. There's a lot of fun new stamps to use for your holiday cards and projects. Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you soon with another card!

Let It Snow

Good morning Mint Owl friends! It's Cassie here, with another card to kick us all into holiday crafting gear. Today I'm combining a new set with an old set and loving the results. I started by pulling out my Banner Sentiments 2 stamp set to use with my Mini Banner Die set. I love that the sentiments that can be used with these dies keeps growing!

To start out I die cut one of each of the banners. I love the size of these because they fit so well across a card panel. I also pulled out my Dear Santa stamp set because it has a few cute little images that fit well in the banners. I stamped each of the images on a banner with VersaMark and then used white embossing powder and heat set them. To make the embossed images pop I added color to the banners with my ink blending tool and Distress Inks. I've been on a non-traditional Christmas color kick so I picked Lucky Clover, Blueprint Sketch, Cracked Pistachio and Peacock Feathers.
For the background I also used Distress Inks to create a snowy night. I started by die cutting a stitched rectangle out of some Bristol Smooth cardstock. Then I pulled the two different size dots from the Trim The Tree set. Using the VersaMark and white embossing powder I stamped the dots all over the panel to make snow. Then I splattered the panel with water to make it look like smaller snow flakes. I'm from Minnesota so trust me-I'm an expert on snowfall! :) I used Broken China and Blueprint Sketch again to make the sky.

Finally I poked holes in the banners and strung some aqua cord through. I taped it on the back and attached it to my card base. And now I've got another card to send for the holiday season! How many cards do you have ready for the winter? Thanks so much for joining me today, and I'll see you again soon with another card!

VIDEO Watercoloring with Distress Inks featuring Sweet Treats

Hi all and happy September!!  Yay!  It's Tara and today I am sharing a card that was so much fun to create and could be easily and quickly replicated!  I used the Sweet Treats stamp set along with my Distress Inks to create a fun piece of patterned paper inspired by a coloring book page.

First, I stamped a piece of Distress Watercolor card stock using VersaFine pigment ink with cupcakes and candies.  The pigment ink stays wet long enough to apply clear embossing powder over the top and when you heat set it you get a shiny, raised pattern that adds a lot of dimension and interest to your project.

Next, I squished some Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron Distress Inks on my craft mat and added a little water.  I used my water brush to apply the water to the background of my patterned paper.  Once I was happy with the background I added some sparkle with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen and Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear sequins.

For added dimension I die cut a panel out of the center of my piece and popped it up on some craft foam.  My sentiment is white heat embossed on black and attached using mini staples.

Thank you so much for joining me today!  I'll see you again soon!  Bye!

Emboss Resist Background featuring Birthday Bash

Hello and happy Thursday!  It's Tara and for today's project I am using the brand new Birthday Bash and Party Pals stamp sets from the August release!  These sets go together so well and I thought it would be fun to combine them, along with the Happy Moments sentiment set, to make a birthday card for my sweet niece!

I just love the scattering of stars image that is in the Birthday Bash set so I decided to heat emboss it all over a piece of Distress watercolor cardstock using some clear glittery embossing powder.  Then, using Distress Inks, I was able to add color over the clear embossing and leave behind a bright and cheerful starry background! And it's glittery!

I colored the little girl from the Party Pals set using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and fussy cut her out.  Next, I used white embossing powder to heat emboss my sentiment - the big scripty happy from the Happy Moments set and the birthday from the Party Pals set.

Once all of my elements were on the card I added a few sequins and some Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen and this card is all done!  So much fun to create!

Thank you all so much for joining me and I'll see you next time!  Bye!
