Happy Birthday

Hello everyone,

I'm back today with a water colour birthday card.

I have been doing lots of water colouring lately and I have always loved embossed sentiments on a watercolour background.  So this is what I have for you today.

I used the Happy Moments stamp set and heat embossed the sentiments with white embossing powder.  The happy is directly on the watercolour panel and the birthday is on a piece of black card stock from my stash and cut it out with my scissors and popped it up with foam tape.

When I have a panel that is warped because of the water I add fun foam to the back so that I have a solid piece to help straighten the panel but this one was a bit harder to do.  I had to set something heavy on top of it overnight in order to get it so that it wasn't warping the card base.  Oh the troubles we go through to get a perfect card!  LoL!!

That's if for me today, thanks for stopping by.

Graphic Card Design featuring Happy Moments

Happy Thursday, all!  It's Tara and for today's project I am sharing  a lovely example of some of the fun things you can do with all of those little images that come in your stamp sets.  Not only is the newly released Happy Moments stamp set a must have for all the amazing sentiments but it also has several really fun circle stamps that are all patterned with great graphic designs.  So I wanted to see what I could create using those extras!

I did a really fun and easy technique that is similar to emboss resist only even faster and easier!  If you stamp an image in VersaMark and then allow it to dry it will resist Distress Inks when you blend over the top - but not all the way!  Instead, you get a great lighter tone of the same color and it creates a really fun matte pattern that you can't really achieve with heat embossing.  I used several of the circles in the Happy Moments set for this technique and then used some stitched circle dies to cut out pieces of the patterned paper I'd created.

I then used a Next Level Embossing Folder from We R Memory Keepers to add some texture and dimension to my card base and to add to the graphic feel of the card.  A simple black and white sentiment helped to not distract from all the groovy patterns and colors!  All that was left was to add some sparkle with some sequins and this card is finished!

Thank you so much for joining me today!  I hope you enjoyed this fun and funky card showcasing a neat way to use all the "extras" that come in your stamp sets.  Have a fabulous day and I'll see you next time!  Bye!

Sit. Stay. Heal

Hello!  It is Lisa here with you today and I am so happy to share this super cute and fun to color card that I've created with the new Get Well Critters Stamp set...

To create this card I started by stamping the dog, sentiment and bandaid border.  I then went in with various Copics and added the grass and sky, as well as colored in my images.  Next, I trimmed along the bottom edge of the bandaid border and popped my panel onto patterned paper, finishing it all off with a bow.  I just can't get enough of this set and the super cute sentiments that go with it!  To help my sentiment stand out in the grass I did go over the bottom of each letter with a white gel pen.

Happy Crafting!

Party Like It's 1999

Good morning everyone! Welcome back to Mint Owl Studio's blog! It's Cassie here, and I've got a bright, fun card to share today.

Today's card uses mainly the 90s Party Set, but also makes use of the Class Act Set and the Happy Moments Set. Let's take a look at the card and then I'll get into the details!

I started by stamping the cassette tape all over a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 panel. I added the smaller shapes to fill in the open spaces. Then I turned on Netflix and went to town with my Copics! I chose bright, fun colors. Once everything was colored I added the artists to the labels. This was my favorite part! I personalized it, because it is going to a friend I've known forever. Let's just say we have a mutual love of The Backstreet Boys! Once I had that finished I die cut the piece of paper and put together a couple sentiments to create my own.

This is where the Happy Moments set comes into play. I took the "you make me" sentiment and paired it with the 90s Party sentiment "party like it's 1999." I stamped and colored the pencil from the Class Act set and fussy cut it to put with the paper die.

I popped those up with some foam tape and bam! This fun throw back card was done! I just love putting stamp sets together to make one fun card.

That's all from me today! Be sure to check out the sets I mentioned and see what fun combinations you can come up with!

Have a great day!

Get Well Card Set

Hello everyone,

I am back with a couple of cards for you today.  If you read my last post, I'm trying to create more than one card so I made two.  I will soon work up to 4 or five soon!

I used the Get Well Critters and with white embossing powder, heat embossed the adorable Dino to created a background.  I then took distress ink and blended it around the edges and left the middle a bit lighter.

I used some black glitter spray and added splatters to the background for interest.  Then I cut out the banner from some ivory card dock and stamped the sentiment with black ink.  To finish off the card I added some enamel dots to the top right hand corner.

Here is the second card I created using the same techniques but with a different colour distress ink.  I also spritzed the card base with water droplets and wiped it away with a paper towel.  I did this for both cards.

I added the same banner and stamped the sentiment with black ink but instead of enamel dots to finish off the card, I used some natural twine that I added to the banner die cut.

Thanks so much for stopping by, see you again soon!

VIDEO: Prismacolors on Colored Card Stock featuring Happy Moments & Love for Mom

Hi there and happy Thursday!  It's Tara and today I want to share a new way to use your stamps with colored card stock. I feel like I've been creating a ton of really complicated stuff lately - shaker cards and lots of coloring and details and hours of work - so I wanted to just create a little card making zen with a nice, clean and simple design today.  And this new Happy Moments sentiment stamp set from the July release made it so easy!

First, I heat embossed the giant happy onto some blue card stock.  I love how many complimentary sentiments there are to pair with the happy in this set!  I heat embossed my small sentiments onto black card stock and trimmed them down to small strips.  Using Post-It tape I masked off the top of my card front and stamped the sweet daisy from the Love for Mom stamp set in white pigment ink.  Using the white ink allowed me to get a fun no-line coloring look when I used my white Prismacolor pencil to color in the petals.  I love how the white just pops on this beautiful blue card base!

Finally, I added some black splatters and dashed lines to tie in my black sentiment strips.  As always, I needed a few Sparkling Clear sequins to finish things off.  You gotta have some bling!  Then I rounded the bottom two corners of each card.  I love how simple and sweet these cards turned out!  They are just cheerful!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope you enjoyed this return to clean and simple card making!  I'll see you all next time!  Bye!

Happy Everything!!!

Hello!  It is Lisa here today with a super happy card that is also full of fun colors!  This card uses the new Happy Moments Stamp Set...

To create this card I took all of the fun circle images in this set and just laid them out on a white panel, with the help of my MISTI I was able to stamp them all at one time... have I mentioned how much I love that thing? I then looked around for some fun color combos and settled on this one.  So I flipped the panel over moved some of the circles around and stamped them in my next color, and I did this a third time until the whole panel was covered.  Next I stamped the happy onto colored yardstick and embossed it in clear, and just laid it across my card.  Finally I stamped the everything in a black ink and added some matching sequins to set the whole thing off.

Thanks so much for stopping by and Happy Crafting!

Game Over!

Hi everyone and happy Tuesday! It's Cassie here, and I've got anther fun card for you. Today I get to showcase the 90s Party stamp set and the Half Tone Stencil from the newest Mint Owl Studio release! This set is such a blast from the past-and I love it!

Here's a look at the card:
I used the Gameboy and "my bad" sentiment to create a fun card that could be used as an apology card or simply a funny 'miss you' card. To start I used an ink blending tool to apply some aqua colored ink to a white stitched panel. Then I cut an inch out of the middle and cut another stitched panel out of a matching pool blue paper. Once those were glued down I started working on the Gameboy image.
I colored the Gameboy in using copics. I hand wrote the "game over" on the screen to go with the "my bad" sentiment. Then I added glossy accents to the screen and any of the buttons. To get my sentiment I heat embossed in silver onto some black card stock and cut it down.
I popped the Gameboy and the sentiment up with some foam adhesive and that was the end of the card! It's kind of simple, but works so well! I can't wait to make more cards with this set!

That's all for today! I hope you guys enjoyed this card. If you haven't checked out the newest Mint Owl Studio release yet be sure to do so!

90's Party

Hello everyone,

We hope you had a chance to hop along with us for our July Release blog hop yesterday.  We had lots of fun creating all the fun projects for you.

My card today was created with the 90's Party stamp set and I have to say this brings back lots of memories.

I started with a piece of distress card stock stamped the pixel type stamped and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  Then I used my distress inks to colour the background.

I then cut out the front panel out with a rectangle die along with another white piece of card stock with a larger rectangle die and adhered it to the card base and popped up the front panel with foam tape.

I stamped the cassette tape (Wow! I haven't said that in years.) with black ink and coloured it in with copics.  I got the idea from DT member Lisa as she wrote on her tape as well.  I remember doing this "back in the day" with my tapes too.

I thought the tape needed something more behind it so I stamped and heat embossed some of the element stamps in the set and adhered them to the card.  I added popped up the tape and stamped the sentiment with black ink, added a few home made enamel dots and called it done.

Thanks so much for stopping by, see you again soon.

INTRODUCTION: Get Well Critters

Hello!

We are sharing the final new stamp set that is going to be in the shop tomorrow at 7 AM CST.  It's called Get Well Critters and it's one that you are going to be using non-stop!  These critters are so adorable and just waiting to be colored!  Add in the coordinating sentiment and you have one cute card to give to someone who is going through a rough time.

Hi, all!  It's Tara and I cannot tell you how much fun I had using this ADORABLE stamp set!!  This is most definitely my new favorite get well set of all time!  The sentiments paired with those too cute critters are just perfection!

For my card I couldn't resist busting out my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and creating a hot pink T-Rex.  It just felt right.  And how adorable is that wee little box of tissues in his wee little arms??  I used Distress Inks to create a yellow ombre background and then used the Honeycomb Dot stencil and some teal embossing paste to add some texture to the background.  A little fussy cutting and this card was all done!

You're going to want to make sure you snag this amazing stamp set for your collection!  I just love it! Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you again tomorrow for some release day blog hop fun!  Bye!

INTRODUCTION: 90s Party

Hello!

I'm a baby of the 90s, so it was essential that I created a stamp set inspired by the 90s.  When I was creating this, all I could think about was Saved By The Bell because I used to watch it every morning before going to school (the re-runs, of course).  I hope you love this set as much as I do and are excited about inking it up with bright neon colors.

Hi!!!!  It's Lisa here too, popping in with a fun card I've created with this set!  Now I must tell you when I first saw this stamp set I squealed and thought of two things... 1. neon colors, 2. I must make a Saved By the Bell background... so I did both!  ( Come on you totally watched that show every morning before leaving for school... wait, that was just me? bwahahaha! )  Check it out....

To create this card I started by randomly stamping with the two triangle images in bright blue, green and pink ink.  I then stamped the cassette on a separate yardstick and colored it in with my Prsmacolor Pencils.  I had to add a title with a pen too!  Then I stamped my sentiment on a flag, layered it all onto some polkadot patterned paper and threw on some matching sequins!  I can't wait to see what you will create when you get yours!

Happy Crafting!

INTRODUCTION: Happy Moments

Hello! It's Cassie here with a fun card for you :)

Today starts the introductions to our new stamp sets for July!  We are so excited to share the new Happy Moments stamp set.  A great sentiment stamp set is always essential and this one works for so many different occasions!

I am going to be needing a ton of birthday cards coming up, so I was inspired to make one with this set. You could create some really fun patterns with the circle stamps, but today I used them in a different way. You're also getting an extra sneak peek today at a product coming soon to Mint Owl Studio-a die set! :D

This card is a super clean and simple card, and would work for a variety of different recipients! It's always good to have these on hand. I die cut a simple rectangle panel to do all of my work on. I made the candles by using the super sneaky peek die. I cut them out, used ink blending tools and my distress inks to give them fun colors, and inlaid them back into the panel. I used the stitched circle stamp and heat embossed it above each of the candles to make an abstract flame. I also added a little yellow ink inside to make them glow, and a black line for the wick.
Then, using some VersaMark I stamped the large "happy" stamp and used gold embossing powered over it. I actually did that twice to make it pop a bit more, and to make it very crisp and defined. Next I stamped "wishing you a" and "birthday" above and below the happy.
Here's a close up of the candles. I really love the way this card turned out! I hope you guys do too! Thanks for stopping by to see the card I shared, and keep an eye out for more fun products this week!
